Dua lipa, a British singer/songwriter born August 22, 1995, in London. After a stint as a model and actress, she was signed to Warner Bros Records. She made her self-titled debut album in the year 2017. It peaked at number three in the U.K. Albums Chart and recorded eight singles that included Be The One I.D.G.A.F and The U.K. number-one single New Rules which peaked at number six in the United States. Lipa was awarded the Brit Awards for British Female solo artist and British breakthrough act in 2018. Her album was certified as platinum throughout the world. She is the daughter of Kosovo Albanian parents Anesa Rexha and Dukagjin Lipa. Her mother is Bosnian. She can trace her ancestors all the way back to Peja which is a city located in Kosovo. The two grandfathers of Lipa were historians. She has a brother Gjin Lipa and a sibling Rina. Lipa was influenced musically by her father who is the principal guitarist and singer in the Kosovan the rock band Oda. Her father at home continued to play music such as his personal compositions and songs composed by David Bowie Bob Dylan Radiohead Sting The Police and Stereophonics. Lipa began singing around the age of five. At the age of nine years old, Lipa started singing at the Sylvia Young Theater School. Lipa has covered Beautiful Christina Aguilera's Beautiful and If I'm Not You You by Alicia Keys on YouTube. The year 2014 was the year that Lipa was signed to a contract with Warner Bros. Records. In August 2015 her first single New Love came out.
